Where STEM fits into Scout badges

This page helps leaders spot honest opportunities to bring STEM thinking into normal Scout badge work. Some links are direct; others depend on how the activity is run.

The aim is not to force STEM into every badge, but to help leaders add measuring, testing, designing, observing, comparing, improving and explaining where it genuinely fits.

This is a curated first-pass map of badge requirements that can support STEM learning. Direct STEM links are already STEM by nature. STEM through framing links are realistic opportunities to put STEM into normal Scout activities when the leader adds evidence, testing, measurement, design constraints, comparison, modelling, debugging or explanation.

Note: This page is a planning aid for leaders. It does not replace the official badge requirements or Scouts programme guidance. Always check the official source before signing off badge work.
